Our Windshield Repair & Replacement Process

1. Assess

Your certified Raydar auto glass technician will first assess the damage to the damaged auto glass in question to determine whether a repair is feasible or whether a full replacement is required.

Wherever possible, we are committed to doing repairs first: if our assessors find that your windshield may be expertly repaired to a state equal to its original strength, level of protection and industry-standard safety, we will always choose that route over replacement.

Safety is, however, key. So, should our assessors find that the windshield cannot be salvaged to industry-standard levels of strength and safety, we will recommend a full replacement. Before proceeding, however, you can rest assured that we will provide you with a fully detailed quote, as well as deal directly with your insurance provider on your behalf for any relevant insurance claims.

2. Repair The Glass

If we find during assessment that glass repairs are a safe, feasible option, our expert technicians will proceed, using the most innovative and industry-leading glass repair methods, tools, and techniques to get your glass repaired and you back on the road. We are able to complete all glass repairs on site, thereby minimizing your stress and any inconvenience to you.

Windshield repairs, rather than replacement, may be an option under the following conditions:

If the damage or chip does not exceed the size of a loonie.
If only the outer layer of glass is damaged.
If the chip does not interfere with or distract from the driver’s line of vision.
If there is at least 4 cm separating the central point of the damage and the edge of the windshield.
If there are no more than 3 chips that need to be repaired.

If we find during assessment that glass replacement is the only way forward, we will proceed by putting together a detailed quote for the work, as well as dealing with your insurance carrier on your behalf once we have your go-ahead.
